The Teacher At Work (adapted from "The Hangman At Home")

What does the teacher think about
when he steps into the classroom in the morning?
When he sits down at this desk and his
students for a Literature lesson
on Shakespeare, do they show
a united front of Indifference
And a visage of Apathy or do they
fail to hand in their homework and give all sorts of
excuses, MCs, lies
And the dog eating the homework
and such? Does he sigh and
recall his time on the other side
when he was a student himself
Causing havoc? When he walks into
A meeing, they say, here's what you have
to do- does he think to himself:
I've seen enough bullshit for today?
Or does his face light up with a
glimmer of hope and does he think:
at least I have a Sunday for
myself? And when the sad moon looks
at the forlorn teacher picking his way
home and he sees the children going home
with glee - the teacher-
What does he feel then? He must pine for
His childhood. Anything is nostalgic for a teacher,
I guess.

Alienation

In a house of worship, a lone figure stands,
Faithless in a sea of believers.
Witnessing the potent faith of singin souls
for a god as yet unseen.

It all starts with a little prayer,
soon heart to heart are linked.
And holy song echoes afar,
fervent declaration of piety.

The faithless one stands as one ashaken,
and yet he feels not the faith.
The cresting wave on which pilgrim soul rode,
he falls into abject failure.

He despairs of the love shown him,
a love he cannot return.
As the enlightened sould pass beyond,
leaving his heart in darkness.
